Why These Injectors Fail
On the 6D170 the injector works against high rail pressure and a heavy duty cycle. Diesel carrying water or fine grit slowly erodes the nozzle seat, while the control valve wears against its seat every time it opens. As the injected quantity drifts, the ECU compensates until the correction limit is reached and a fault is stored.
Fitting Notes
- Confirm the original injector number before ordering; injectors are matched to the engine variant.
- Renew the copper washer and O-rings and keep the injector bore clean.
- Recode the injector where the engine management requires it.
