Why These Injectors Are Replaced
On a PT or STC injector the plunger and barrel wear against each other with every camshaft revolution, and the nozzle seat erodes at the same time. As they wear, the injected quantity drifts and the engine runs rough, smokes and loses power. The injector is normally replaced as a complete unit rather than repaired in the field.
