095420-0670 is a Denso type pressure relief valve, also called a pressure limiter valve, that mounts at the side of the common rail. It opens when rail pressure exceeds the set threshold and returns fuel to the tank, protecting the rail, injectors and high-pressure pump from overpressure.

Why the Relief Valve Is Replaced

Once a relief valve has opened it may not reseat perfectly, and an internally leaking valve lets rail pressure fall away. That shows up as hard starting, poor power and pressure-deviation faults. A valve that sticks closed removes the overpressure protection entirely, so it is normally replaced rather than cleaned and reused.

• Confirm the number on the original valve before ordering; relief valves are matched to the rail and system.
• Depressurise the rail before removal and use new sealing washers on refitting.
• Check for the underlying cause of the overpressure event, such as a blocked return line.
