Caterpillar HEUI Diesel Fuel Injector for C7 and C9
This is a Caterpillar HEUI hydraulic electronic unit injector for CAT C7 and C9 engines. On a HEUI system the injector is actuated by high-pressure engine oil rather than by a camshaft, so the complete assembly is replaced when the nozzle or intensifier wears.

Why HEUI Injectors Are Replaced
On a HEUI injector the oil side and the fuel side both wear. The intensifier piston and the nozzle seat degrade with running hours, so the injected quantity drifts from the value the ECU expects. Operators notice hard starting, a rough idle, falling power and smoke, and the ECU eventually stores a correction-limit fault.
Fitting Notes
- Confirm the number on the original injector before ordering; HEUI injectors are matched to the engine variant.
- Check the oil rail and injector O-rings for damage and renew the copper washer.
- Recode the injector where the engine management requires it.
